Abstract

La presente invención proporciona composiciones que comprenden un cultivo biológicamente puro o una preparación libre de células del mismo de mutantes insecticidas de la cepa NRRL B-67685 de Bacillus thuringiensis o variantes insecticidas de la misma. Los mutantes de la presente invención son capaces de producir niveles aumentados de zwittermicina A en comparación con la cepa parental. La presente invención también proporciona un método para controlar plagas de insectos y proteger una planta útil o una parte de la misma de los daños causados por plagas, en el que el método comprende aplicar una cepa de la invención, o parte o extracto de la misma, a la planta y/o a un locus de la planta.
