Abstract
Se proporciona un método para producir polen que reduce la aptitud de al menos una especie de Amaranthus de interés. El método comprende tratar el polen de plantas de una especie de Amaranthus de interés con un régimen de irradiación seleccionado del grupo que consiste en: (i) radiación con rayos X a una dosis de irradiación de 20 - 1600 Gy; (ii) radiación g a una dosis de irradiación de 20 - 2000 Gy; (iii) radiación con partículas; y (iv) radiación UV-C a una dosis de irradiación de 100 mJ/cm² - 50 J/cm², con la condición de que, cuando la irradiación es con rayos X, la dosis de irradiación no es 300 Gy, y donde, cuando la irradiación es irradiación g, la dosis de irradiación no es 100, 300 y 500 Gy, y donde, cuando dicha radiación es UV-C, la dosis de radiación no es 2 J/cm².
