Sales de N-fosfonometilglicina con la fórmula (1), donde R¹, R² y R³ son en forma independiente hidrógeno, sodio, potasio, amonio, isopropilamina, n-propilamina, monoetanolamina, dietanolamina, dimetilamina, o un derivado de guanidina con la fórmula (2), con la condición de que por lo menos uno de R¹, R² y R³ debe ser el derivado de guanidina; R⁴ debe ser -(CH₂)ₘ-(NR⁹(CH₂)ₙ)ˣ-NR¹⁰R¹¹ o -(CH₂)ₘ-CH(NH₂)CH(NH₂)R¹¹, polietilenimino, C₈₋₃₀ alquilo, o C₈₋₃₀ alquenilo; R⁵, R⁶, R⁷ y R⁸ deben ser en forma independiente hidrógeno o C₁₋₅ hidrocarbilo; R⁹ y R¹⁰ deben ser en forma independiente hidrógeno o C₁₋₅ hidrocarbilo; R¹¹ debe ser C₁₋₃₀ hidrocarbilo; y m, n y x deben ser en forma independiente un entero entre 1 y 10. Las sales de N-fosfonometilglicina y los derivados de guanidina tienen una eficacia herbicida mejorada respecto del glifosato solo. Reivindicación 1: Un compuesto guanidina o una sal del mismo caracterizado porque es de fórmula (3), en donde R⁴ es -(CH₂)ₘ-(NR⁹(CH₂)ₙ)ˣ-NR¹⁰R¹¹, -(CH₂)ₘ-CH(NH₂)CH(NH₂)R¹¹ o polietilenimino; R⁵, R⁶, R⁷ y R⁸ son en forma independiente hidrógeno o C₁₋₅ hidrocarbilo; R⁹ y R¹⁰ son en forma independiente hidrógeno o C₁₋₅ hidrocarbilo; R¹¹ es C₁₋₃₀ hidrocarbilo; y m, n y x son en forma independiente un entero entre 1 y 10.
