Abstract

Esta solicitud se relaciona con juntas, aparatos que incorporan dichas juntas y métodos para utilizarlas. En particular, se provee una junta que comprende una forma curvada cerrada de material resilíente, donde la forma curvada tiene una periferia interna y una periferia externa, donde la junta tiene un primer espesor en una primera posición que se inicia en la periferia externa y tiene entre 0% y 30% del ancho de junta, un segundo espesor en una segunda posición medida en un punto que está en al menos 50% del ancho de junta desde la primera posición y un tercer espesor en una tercera posición que está en el medio de las primera y segunda posiciones y está al menos 10% del ancho de junta desde cada una, donde el primer espesor es mayor que el tercer espesor que es mayor que el segundo espesor, y en donde cualquiera de a) dicha junta se reduce en espesor desde el primer espesor al tercer espesor y luego al segundo espesor por medio de una o más secciones ahusadas que se ahúsan linealmente a un espesor que se reduce en la dirección hacia la periferia interna, o b) dicha junta se reduce en espesor desde el primer espesor al tercer espesor por medio de uno o más escalones que se escalonan hacia un espesor que se reduce en la dirección hacia la periferia interna y luego desde el tercer espesor al segundo espesor por medio de uno o más escalones que se escalonan hacia un espesor que se reduce en la dirección hacia la periferia interna, o c) dicha junta se reduce en espesor desde el primer espesor al tercer espesor y luego al segundo espesor por medio de una combinación de uno o más escalones y una o más secciones ahusadas, tal como se definió anteriormente.
