Abstract
Un método de codificación de imágenes que usa codificación aritmética. El método incluye: efectuar la codificación aritmética de un primer indicador que indica si un valor absoluto de un coeficiente de destino de un bloque de coeficientes de destino es o no mayor que 1; y efectuar la codificación aritmética de un segundo indicador que indica si el valor absoluto es o no mayor que 2. En la codificación aritmética del primer indicador y la codificación aritmética del segundo indicador, se determina si un bloque de coeficientes inmediatamente anterior que se ha codificado inmediatamente antes del bloque de coeficientes de destino incluye o no un coeficiente que tiene un valor absoluto mayor que un valor de umbral. En base a un resultado de la determinación, se seleccionan los respectivos contextos que deben usarse en la codificación aritmética de los indicadores primero y segundo.
