Abstract
Se provee un proceso para la aplicación de una imprimación curable mediante energía y una tinta metálica brillante a un sustrato de papel o cartón. La imprimación puede curarse usando un sistema de curado por energía, tal como un sistema de curado de UV o EB. La imprimación curable facilita la orientación de las partículas de pigmentos metálicos de manera de proporcionar una reflectancia coherente de luz y óptimo brillo. Convenientemente, el papel curado con imprimación puede ser revestido con la tinta metálica en áreas previamente designadas, lo que minimiza la cantidad de tinta metálica utilizada. En realizaciones ejemplares, el papel metálico es recubierto nuevamente con una o más tintas transparentes u opacas. Asimismo, el papel revestido con imprimación curada puede someterse a descarga corona a fin de eliminar el exceso de solvente y compuestos en la fase líquida dentro de la matriz de la imprimación curada, o a fin de aumentar la tensión superficial de la imprimación. En ciertas circunstancias, el papel metálico y el producto final son reciclables y capaces de ser reducidos nuevamente a pulpa.
