Abstract

Reivindicación 1: Un método que comprende: sumergir un producto de mechones insertados en agua, donde el producto de mechones insertados comprende una pluralidad de mechones a lo largo de un sustrato, donde el espaciado entre mechones adyacentes es al menos 0,125 pulgadas; permitir que crezcan algas por un período de tiempo en el producto de mechones insertados; y remover al menos una parte de las algas del producto de mechones insertados.Reivindicación 8: El método de la reivindicación 1, donde el producto de mechones insertados comprende un material de soporte que comprende una hoja de capas múltiples y donde la pluralidad de mechones se forman de hilos filamentosas que sobresalen como porciones de fibras individuales, bucles, bucles cortados. Reivindicación 24: Un producto que comprende: un sustrato tejido; y mechones insertados a través del sustrato, donde el espaciado entre mechones adyacentes es de al menos 0,125 pulgadas, donde las alturas de los mechones son de al menos 0,25 pulgadas, y donde los mechones son enroscados. Reivindicación 33: Un método que comprende: sumergir un producto de mechones insertados en agua, donde el producto de mechones insertados comprende una pluralidad de mechones insertados a través de un sustrato, donde el espaciado entre las bases de mechones adyacentes es de al menos 0,125 pulgadas; permitir que se acumulen algas por un período de tiempo en el producto de mechones insertados; y remover al menos una parte de las algas del producto de mechones insertados. Reivindicación 34: El método de la reivindicación 33, donde sumergir el producto de mechones insertados en agua comprende sumergir el producto de mechones insertados en un lago, bahía, golfo, océano u otro cuerpo de agua natural.
