Abstract
Un método para acceder a un candidato de rocas fuente de hidrocarburos utiliza datos sísmicos para una region de la Tierra. Los datos se analizan para determinar la presencia, el espesor y la extension lateral de candidatos de rocas fuente basados en el conocimiento del comportamiento sísmico de rocas fuente de hidrocarburos. Se provee un cálculo estimado del contenido orgánico del candidato de rocas fuente a partir de la impedancia acustica. Luego se provee un cálculo estimado del potencial de generacion de hidrocarburos del candidato de rocas fuente a partir del espesor y la extension lateral del candidato de rocas fuente y a partir del cálculo estimado del contenido orgánico.
