Abstract

Proceso para la destilacion azeotropica de una alimentacion, en donde la alimentacion comprende un ácido carboxílico alifático y agua, que comprende conducir la destilacion azeotropica en la presencia de un agente de arrastre orgánico para producir un componente en fase liquida que comprende a dicho ácido carboxílico alifático con un contenido reducido de agua con relacion al contenido de agua en la alimentacion y un componente en fase vapor que comprende al agente de arrastre orgánico, un producto secundario del agente de arrastre orgánico y agua, y ya sea (i) devolver una corriente que comprende al producto secundario del agente de arrastre orgánico hasta un punto en la destilacion azeotropica por debajo de donde ingresa la alimentacion, en donde dicho producto secundario del agente de arrastre orgánico es convertido en el agente de arrastre orgánico o (ii) convertir el producto secundario del agente de arrastre orgánico en el agente de arrastre orgánico y luego devolver el agente de arrastre orgánico a la destilacion azeotropica.
