Abstract
Un procedimiento para preparar ácido formico, en el que la hidrogenacion catalítica de dioxido de carbono con hidrogeno en un catalizador que comprende un metal de los grupos 8 a 10 de la tabla periodica, en presencia de aminas primarias,secundarias y/o terciarias genera el formiato de amonio correspondiente y el formiato de amonio se desdobla por calentamiento para formar acido formico y la amina, que comprende seleccionar la amina primaria, secundaria o terciaria de entre aminasde formula 1 o mezclas de estas en la que R1 a R3 son iguales o diferentes y representan cada uno hidrogeno, restos alquilo lineales o ramificados que tienen de 1 a 18 átomos de carbono, restos cicloalifáticos que tienen de 5 a 7 átomos de carbono,restos arilo y/o restos arilalquilo, y por lo menos uno de los restos R1 a R3 porta un grupo hidroxilo, y llevar a cabo la hidrogenacion en un disolvente que tiene un punto de ebullicion >= 105°C a presion normal, y obtener el acido formico en lamezcla de reaccion que comprende el disolvente de alto punto de ebullicion mediante desdoblamiento térmico del formiato de amonio y separacion por destilacion del ácido formico.
