Abstract

Se divulgan un método y un sistema basado en dicho método para impartirle a una fibra optica, una rotacion predeterminada alrededor de su eje, donde se hace rotar la fibra a través de una fuerza de rozamiento que actua sobre la fibra mientras avanza en una direccion predeterminada. La rotacion realmente impartida a la fibra optica es medida en línea mientras la fibra avanza en la direccion, y la fuerza de rozamiento es controlada en respuesta a dicha rotacion medida de manera de obtener la rotacion predeterminada. También se divulgan dispositivos de giro que actuan sobre la fibra optica a través de una fuerza de rozamiento controlable en forma externa y particularmente adecuados para ser utilizados con el método y dentro del sistema de la presente.
