Abstract

La presente se relaciona con una cepa de Megasphaera elsdenii y sus usos. Además, la presente se refiere a preparaciones y métodos que incorporan dicha cepa. La presente también se refiere a alimentos para rumiantes y a una preparación y métodos para la prevención y tratamiento de la acidosis láctica en rumiantes. La presente se refiere además a un método para aislar un cultivo biológicamente puro de un microorganismo superior del herbario en un tiempo relativamente más corto que en los métodos convencionales. La presente además se refiere a un método para lograr cualquiera de las siguientes mejoras en rumiantes, a saber, producción de leche, mejor rendimiento del feedlot, mayor índice de proliferación, disminución del tiempo de terminación; menor índice de mortalidad y morbididad; menor incidencia de la acidosis láctica y enfermedades relacionadas; mayor eficacia de la conversión de alimentos, disminución en el contenido de forraje en la dieta; y capacidad de alimentarse con dietas con contenidos relativamente más elevados de concentrados.
