Abstract

El método y disposicion de acuerdo con la presente se refieren a redes de comunicacion que utilizan conexiones-ATM (Modo de Transferencia Asincronica) para transmision de datos, particularmente conexiones-ATM adaptadas para transmision de, por ejemplo, paquetes-IP. La transmision de paquetes-IP a través de un enlace-IP en una red de comunicacion basada en ATM se lleva a cabo de un bloque de funcion de enlace que se implementa entre el nivel-IP y el nivel-ATM. Dicho bloque de funcion incluye medios para seleccionar una conexion-ATM operativa, que se asigna a dicho enlace-IP, medios para monitorear la operabilidad de conexiones-ATM seleccionadas y medios para volver a seleccionar una conexion-ATM redundante si se detecta que una de dichas conexiones asignadas se encuentra inoperativa.
