Sino está almacenado en memoria el Codec adecuado, se puede leer de los medios extraíbles de tal manera que el reproduct or audio portátil pueda reproduciradecuadamente el contenido audio. El reproductor audio portátil también puede funcionar como un dispositivo extraíble de almacenamiento de datos para unordenador personal.
