Abstract
Una tabla utilizable para celdas, a modo de transferencia asincrono (ATM) de entrada de cualquiera de un primer protocolo tipo AAL o de un segundoprotocolo tipo AAL, para obtener un parámetro de modo de transferencia asincrono (ATM) para ser usado enun encabezamiento de una celda de salida. Dentro de unmodo ATM, una unidad de manejo de celdas (CHU) recibe celdas ATM de entrada desde un conmutador ATM y provee celdas ATM, de salida que retornan al conmutadorATM. La unidad de manejo de las celdasconsulta con dicha tabla que puede emplearse tanto para las celdas ATM que tienen un protocolo AAL2 como para las celdasATM que tienen un protocolo AAL del segundo tipo. El protocolo AAL del segundo tipo es, preferentemente, un primario AAL2, que requiere que los paquetes AAL-2transportados en la carga de informacion de las celdas ATM sean paquetes completos y que la carga de informacion ATM no tenga un campo de inicio del tipo AAL-2La tabla combinada posee una estructura tal que le permite tener una pluralidad de intervalos, los cuales incluyen un primer intervalo para las conexiones delprotocolo AAL-2 y una pluralidad de otros intervalos para las conexiones del protocolo AAL-2 del segundo tipo. La invencion también propone un método parausardicha tabla mediante el cual cada fila para el intervalo del protocolo AAL2 se asocia con:(1) un valor VCI de entrada unico; (2) un valor de enlace de salida:(3) un valor VCI de salida; y (4) un valor de desplazamiento. El valor de desplazamiento indica aquel intervalo entre la pluralidad de intervalos para lasegunda conexion del protocolo AAL. Cada un de las filas para los intervalos de la tabla para las conexiones del segundo protocolo AAL se asocia con :(I)unvalor VCI de entrada: (2) unidentificador de canales (CID); (3) un valor de enlace de salida; y (4) un parámetro ATM para usar en un encabezamiento ATM de unacelda ATM de salida.
