Abstract

Se describe una estructura absorbente que comprende un polímero insoluble en agua y esponjable en agua acídico o básico, un segundo material básico oacídico, y opcionalmente, un agente amortiguador, en donde la estructura absorbente exhibe propiedades absorbentes deseables. Específicamente, la presenteinvencion se refiere a una estructura absorbente que tiene la capacidad de absorber una gran cantidad de líquido mientras se mantiene un perfil de pHbalanceado y esencialmente deseado sobre la superficie superior de la estructura absorbente a lo largo de la misma. La estructura absorbente es util en losproductos absorbentes descartables, tal como aquellos productos absorbentes descartables que son usados para absorber líquidos corporales.
