Abstract
Se describe un método para incrementar el nivel de fructano que se acumula en las células de una planta monocotiledonea transgénica. Mas especificamentese describe un gen quimerico que comprende un gen de fructosiltransferasa vegetal, ligado operativamente a una secuencia reguladora adecuada de maneratal que dicho gen quimerico tenga la capacidad de transformar una celula vegetal monocotiledonea dando resultado la produccion de fructano sin efectosperjudiciales sobre dicha célula vegetal. También se incluye en la presente la planta monocotiledonea transformada y la semilla que de ella se obtiene.
