Abstract

The assembly comprises an amorphous metal magnetic core having a primary winding for low voltage excitation and a secondary winding for a high voltage output to be supplied to a spark plug. A high voltage is generated in the secondary winding within a short time after the excitation of said winding. The assembly detects spark ignition conditions in the combustion chamber to control the occurrence of ignition. The assembly is constructed of subassembly parts that can be manufactured with existing machines and at a reasonable cost.
