Abstract
FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: DC power source is connected between the low-voltage output of the secondary winding of an ignition coil and housing to define a DC power source together with the active resistance of the secondary winding of the ignition coil. The power source is connected with the spark plug and provides a steady state arc discharge in the discharge gap of a spark plug. The discharge duration is only bounded by the time period through which the ignition distributor is switched in and can be controlled. EFFECT: increased duration and power of discharge.
