Abstract

A keyword type advertising method using an electronic book and an apparatus thereof are provided. A server computer generates electronic books on the basis of original source files received from publisher computers, classifies keywords according to article contents of the generated electronic books, calculates advertising costs of the classified keywords, provides information about the advertising costs of the keywords by the request of the advertiser computers, registers keyword-based advertisements on the basis of keyword-based advertisement registration information received from the advertiser computers, and outputs an advertisement registered in a keyword and article contents of a specific electronic book selected by a user if the reading of the article contents of the specific electronic book is requested from user computers which perform a key search.

METHOD FOR KEYWORD TYPE ADVERTISING USING AN ELECTRONIC BOOK AND APPARATUS THEREOF
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a keyword type advertising method using an electronic book and an apparatus thereof, and more particularly, to a keyword type advertising method using an electronic book, which is capable of classifying contents of articles configuring the electronic book according to keywords, registering advertisements and enabling an advertisement registered in a keyword to be exposed when the electronic book is read by a keyword search of a user, and an apparatus thereof. [2] Generally, the Internet is an open type network configured to enable any user to freely connect his/her computer to a counterpart computer anywhere. With development of a compression technology, various services, such as transmission of electronic mails and files, used for the delivery of multimedia information may be used, in addition to the delivery of basic text information.
[3] While the use of the Internet has been rapidly increased globally as well as domestically, the importance of the Internet has been rapidly increased as a strategic tool for improving efficiency and productivity over all the existing industry fields. Since new business opportunities are continuously gained using the Internet and the range thereof is expanded, the number of providers using the Internet has been gradually increased.
[4] That is, as business using the Internet, the number of sites for providing various contents such as Internet advertisements, Internet broadcasts, online games, Internet newspapers/magazines, search services, portal services and electronic commerce has been rapidly increased.
[5] Meanwhile, recently, providers spare much cost for advertisements for the purpose of advertisement and publicity of products. Examples of the advertisement include an offline print advertisement using books and newspapers and an online advertisement.
[6] However, in the offline advertisement using the books or the newspapers, an advertisement execution time and an advertisement period are previously determined. In this case, an accurate report for an accurate advertisement effect (e.g., the number of times of advertisement exposure (popularity), a conversion factor (an intended specific action of an advertiser) or the like) cannot be provided, reliability of information provided is reduced, and a criterion for fixing an advertising cost becomes ambiguous.
[7] Therefore, there is a need for advertisement means which is capable of frequently registering an advertisement without restricting a deadline or an advertisement period, providing accurate advertisement effect information such as the number of times of advertisement exposure or a conversion factor, and clarifying a criterion for fixing the advertising cost of information provided.
[8] In addition, in the online advertisement, since advertisement areas are divided on a web screen such that advertisements are exposed, an attention or recognition degree of the advertisement is reduced and only restricted advertisement contents are used using a small advertisement slogan or banner. Since a screen moves to a desired landing page by clicking the exposed advertisement by a user, an advertisement marketing effect is relatively reduced.
[9] If an electronic book is used in the online advertisement, an offline book advertisement is converted into an electronic book without alteration and the electronic book is provided. Therefore, only predetermined advertisements are exposed regardless of an old publication or a new publication. Accordingly, the reliability and the effect of the advertisement are extremely reduced.
[10] Accordingly, there is a need for an advertising method which is capable of significantly improving the attention and recognition degree of the advertisement and improving the advertisement effect by exposing an advertisement area in a half or the whole of a screen viewed by a user, and improving the advertisement marketing effect relative to the exposure by configuring the advertisement such that a landing page is immediately exposed. In addition, there is a need for advertisement means for placing an advertisement including an efficient marketing strategy using a wide advertisement space. In addition, there is a need for a target advertisement function for exposing an advertisement according to the configuration and the contents of an advertisement page having the same configuration of the existing offline advertisement and applying an advertisement material, which is suitable for brand image marketing and online/offline integration marketing and is registered as an advertisement, to all types of existing file formats provided on the Internet. [11] Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a keyword type advertising method using an electronic book, which is capable of classifying contents of articles configuring the electronic book according to keywords, registering advertisements based on the keywords and enabling an advertisement registered in a keyword to be exposed when the electronic book is read by a keyword search of a user, and an apparatus thereof. [12] Another object of the present invention is to provide a keyword type advertising method using an electronic book, which is capable of enabling an advertiser who registers an advertisement to freely set a period in the daily/monthly units according to keywords of articles configuring the electronic book and to freely change the advertisement contents in the set period, and an apparatus thereof.
[13] Another object of the present invention is to provide a keyword type advertising method using an electronic book, which is capable of enabling an advertiser who registers an advertisement to collectively register the advertisement in various types of electronic books by one-time advertisement application according to a specific keyword, and an apparatus thereof. [14] In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, the above and other objects can be accomplished by the provision of a keyword type advertising method using electronic books, the method including: (1) at a server computer for providing an advertisement service using the electronic books, generating and storing the electronic books in a database on the basis of original source files received from one or more publisher computers; (2) at the server computer, classifying keywords according to article contents of the electronic books generated in the step (1) and calculating advertising costs of the classified keywords; (3) at the server computer, providing information about the advertising costs of the keywords calculated in the step (2) by the request of the one or more advertiser computers which perform an access operation and registering keyword-based advertisements in the database on the basis of keyword- based advertisement registration information received from the advertiser computers; (4) at the server computer, when a keyword search is performed by each of user computers, extracting and providing an article list of the electronic books corresponding to the requested keyword search from the database to each of the user computers, and determining whether or not the reading of article contents of a specific electronic book is requested from each of the user computers; and (5) at the server computer, extracting and provoding the article contents of the specific electronic book selected by a user and an advertisement registered in the keyword to each of the user computers if it is determined that the reading of the article contents of the specific electronic book is requested from each of the user computers in the step (4).
[15] The method may further include, after the step (5), (6) at the server computer, generating statistical information of the article contents of the electronic books exposed by the keyword searches of users and the use status of the keyword-based advertisements and providing the statistical information to advertisers who register the keyword-based advertisements; and (7) at the server computer, settling and providing advertising revenue generated by the use of the electronic books of the users to the publishers. [16] In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a keyword type advertising apparatus using electronic books, the apparatus including: a plurality of publisher computers providing original source files including books and magazines, which are being possessed and sold, to a server computer for providing an advertisement service using the electronic books; a plurality of advertiser computers registering advertisements to be published in the server computer on the basis of keywords classified according to article contents of the electronic books; a plurality of user computers inputting a specific keyword so as to check an article list of the electronic books registered in the server computer, receiving article contents of a specific electronic book and advertisements registered in the keyword by the selection of users from the server computer, and displaying the article contents on screens thereof; and the server computer generating the electronic books on the basis of the original source files received from the publisher computers, classifying keywords according to the article contents of the electronic books so as to calculate advertising costs of the classified keywords, providing the keyword-based advertisement cost information to the advertiser computers which perform an access operation, registering keyword-based advertisements on the basis of the keyword-based advertisement registration information received from the advertiser computers, providing an article list of electronic books corresponding to the keyword search requested by each of the user computers to each of the user computers, and outputting the article contents of a specific electronic book and the an advertisement registered in the keyword if the reading of the article contents of the specific electronic book is requested from each of the user computers.
Advantageous Effects
[17] As described above, according to a keyword type advertising method using an electronic book and an apparatus thereof of the present invention, since an advertiser registers an advertisement according to an article-based keyword of the electronic book and the advertisement registered in a keyword is exposed together with the article contents of the electronic book when a user reads the electronic book by a keyword search, it is possible to maximize marketing effect by significantly improving an attention degree and a recognition degree of the advertisement, maximize advertising effect by exposing the advertisement in a half or the whole of a screen in one-to-one correspondence, and perform target marketing by the advertisement publication suitable for a specific keyword.
[18] In addition, since the advertiser can freely set an advertisement period according to the keyword and freely change the advertisement contents in a predetermined period, it is possible to solve the problems of the conventional offline advertisement, that is, problems that the advertisement publication period is restricted by the publication period of the book and the advertisement period cannot be flexibly selected.

[72] The server computer 400 which performs the keyword-based advertisement registration using the electronic books in the step S90 determines whether a user who wants to read electronic books such as various types of books and magazines inputs a specific keyword using each of the user computers 300 for performing an access operation so as to perform the keyword search (SlOO), and extracts and provides the article list of the electronic books corresponding to the requested keyword from the database to each of the user computers 300 when the keyword search is performed by each of the user computers 300 (Sl 10). At this time, each of the user computers 300 which performs the keyword search may perform a desired keyword search using a portal site affiliated with the server computer 400, instead of a method of directly connecting to the server computer 400 so as to perform the keyword search.

[74] If it is determined that the reading of the article list of the specific electronic book is requested from each of the user computers 300 in the step S 120, then the server computer 400 extracts and outputs the article contents of the specific electronic book selected by the user and the advertisement registered in the keyword from the database to each of the user computers 300 (S 130).
[75] The user who performs the keyword search checks one-sided or double-sided keyword-based advertisements while reading the article contents of the specific electronic book according to the keyword selected by the user, as shown in FIG. 6.
[76] The server computer 400 which provides the article contents of the specific electronic book according to the keyword search and the advertisement registered in the keyword in the step S 130 accumulates and stores statistical information of the article contents of the electronic books exposed by the keyword searches of the users and the use status of the keyword-based advertisements (S 140), and periodically provides the stored statistical information to the advertiser computers 200 which register the keyword-based advertisements (S 150).
[77] Finally, the server computer 400 settles the advertising revenue generated by the use of the electronic books of the users, provides information about the settled advertising revenue to the publisher computers 100, and divides the revenue generated by provision of the contents (S 160).
[78] Although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been disclosed for illustrative purposes, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions and substitutions are possible, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as disclosed in the accompanying claims. [79] It is possible to maximize marketing effect by significantly improving an attention degree and a recognition degree of an advertisement, maximize advertising effect by exposing the advertisement in a half or the whole of a screen in one-to-one correspondence, and perform target marketing by the advertisement publication suitable for a specific keyword.

Claims

Claims [1] A keyword type advertising method using electronic books, the method comprising:
(1) at a server computer for providing an advertisement service using the electronic books, generating and storing the electronic books in a database on the basis of original source files received from one or more publisher computers;
(2) at the server computer, classifying keywords according to article contents of the electronic books generated in the step (1) and calculating advertising costs of the classified keywords;
(3) at the server computer, providing information about the advertising costs of the keywords calculated in the step (2) by the request of the one or more advertiser computers which perform an access operation and registering keyword- based advertisements in the database on the basis of keyword-based advertisement registration information received from the advertiser computers;
(4) at the server computer, when a keyword search is performed by each of user computers, extracting and providing an article list of the electronic books corresponding to the requested keyword search from the database to each of the user computers, and determining whether or not the reading of article contents of a specific electronic book is requested from each of the user computers; and
(5) at the server computer, extracting and providing the article contents of the specific electronic book selected by a user and an advertisement registered in the keyword to each of the user computers if it is determined that the reading of the article contents of the specific electronic book is requested from each of the user computers in the step (4).
[2] The method according to claim 1, further comprising, after the step (5),
(6) at the server computer, generating statistical information of the article contents of the electronic books exposed by the keyword searches of users and the use status of the keyword-based advertisements and providing the statistical information to advertisers who register the keyword-based advertisements; and
(7) at the server computer, settling and providing advertising revenue generated by the use of the electronic books of the users to the publishers.
[3] The method according to claim 1, wherein the keyword-based advertisement registration information received from the advertiser computers in the step (3) includes the selection of an advertisement period in the unit of days or months, the selection of a one-sided or double-sided advertisement area, the selection of a keyword, the use of a representative link, a representative link position plan file, a representative link image file, a link uniform resource locator (URL) and an ad- vertisement file.
[4] The method according to claim 1, wherein the contents of the keyword-based advertisements registered in the step (3) are arbitrarily changed during a registered advertisement period.
[5] The method according to claim 1, wherein the keyword-based advertisements registered in the step (3) are registered in article contents of all the electronic books classified by the keyword by one-time advertisement registration.
[6] A computer-readable recording medium having recorded thereon a computer program for executing the method according to any one of claims 1 to 5 by a computer.
[7] A keyword type advertising apparatus using electronic books, the apparatus comprising: a plurality of publisher computers providing original source files including books and magazines, which are being possessed and sold, to a server computer for providing an advertisement service using the electronic books; a plurality of advertiser computers registering advertisements to be published in the server computer on the basis of keywords classified according to article contents of the electronic books; a plurality of user computers inputting a specific keyword so as to check an article list of the electronic books registered in the server computer, receiving article contents of a specific electronic book and advertisements registered in the keyword by the selection of users from the server computer, and displaying the article contents on screens thereof; and the server computer generating the electronic books on the basis of the original source files received from the publisher computers, classifying keywords according to the article contents of the electronic books so as to calculate advertising costs of the classified keywords, providing the keyword-based advertisement cost information to the advertiser computers which perform an access operation, registering keyword-based advertisements on the basis of the keyword-based advertisement registration information received from the advertiser computers, providing an article list of electronic books corresponding to the keyword search requested by each of the user computers to each of the user computers, and outputting the article contents of a specific electronic book and the an advertisement registered in the keyword if the reading of the article contents of the specific electronic book is requested from each of the user computers.
[8] The apparatus according to claim 7, wherein the server computer generates statistical information of the article contents of the electronic books exposed according to the keyword searches of the user computers and the use status of the keyword-based advertisement, provides the statistical information to the advertiser computers which register the keyword-based advertisements, settles advertisement revenue generated by the use of the electronic books of the user computers, and provides revenue division information to the publisher computers.
[9] The apparatus according to claim 7, wherein: the advertiser computers are capable of frequently changing the contents of the advertisements registered in the server computer during a registered advertisement period, and the advertisement is registered in the article contents of all the electronic books classified by the keyword by one-time advertisement registration.
[10] The apparatus according to claim 7, wherein the server computer includes: a data communication unit processing the input of the original source files and the output of the revenue division information with the publisher computers, processing the input/output of data for the access, the output of keyword-based advertising cost information, the input of the keyword-based advertisement registration information, and the output of the statistical information of the use status of the keyword-based advertisement with the advertiser computers, and processing the input of keyword search data, the output of the article list of each electronic book corresponding to the requested keyword search, the input of the request for the reading of the article contents of a specific electronic book, and the output of the article contents of a specific electronic book and the advertisement registered in the keyword with the user computers; an electronic book generator converting the original source files received from the publisher computers via the data communication unit into electronic books; an advertisement registration unit classifying keywords according to the article contents of the electronic books converted by the electronic book generator, calculating the advertising costs of the classified keywords, and generating advertisement files on the basis of the keyword-based advertisement registration information including the selection of the advertisement period in the unit of days or months, the selection of the one-sided or double-sided advertisement area, the selection of the keyword, the use of the representative link, the representative link position plan file, the representative link image file, the link uniform resource locator (URL) and the advertisement file, which is received from the advertiser computers via the data communication unit; a database storing the electronic books generated by the electronic book generator and the keyword-based advertisement data generated by the adver- tisement registration unit; a controller controlling the generation of the electronic books on the basis of the original source files received from the publisher computers, the classification of the keywords according to the article contents of the electronic books and the settlement of the advertising costs of the classified keywords, controlling the access of the advertiser computers, the output of the keyword-based advertising cost information and the generation of the advertisement files according to the input of the keyword-based advertisement registration information, controlling the output of the article list of the electronic books according to the keyword search of the user computers and the output of the article contents of a specific electronic book according to the request for the reading of the specific electronic book and the advertisements registered in the keyword, controlling the generation of the statistical information of the use status of the keyword-based advertisement and the output of the generated statistical information to the advertiser computers, and controlling the settlement and the division of the advertising revenue generated by the use of the electronic books; and a statistical information generator generating the statistical information of the article contents of the electronic books exposed according to the keyword searches of the user computers and the use status of the keyword-based advertisement and periodically providing the generated statistical information to the advertiser computers, under the control of the controller; and a settlement unit performing the settlement and division of the advertisement revenue generated by the use of the electronic books of the user computers and providing division information of the settled revenue to the publisher computers, under the control of the controller.
