The present invention relates to bed equipment for avoiding daily bed-making, the `said bed equipment comprising a rectangular casing consisting of a Vtop portion and a bottom portion detachable from one another, the bottom portion being longer than the top portion at the head end, the said portions being connected to one another by means of a zipper fastener on each of the longitudinal sides of the casing, and the top portion being provided with protection strips of the blanketlike cloth.

The invention is characterized by the fact that a top quilt and a bottom quilt, which latter is provided with some stiffening cloth in order to hold the bottom sheet stretched or may consist of a thin mat-tress or pad, are xed to the casing by means of a rectangular seam or the like at some distance from the edges of the casing so that those parts of the quilts or mattress which lie outside the seams as well as the oppo-V site parts of the casing form free broad border portions between which the sheet portions projecting outside the quilt or mattress are adapted to be inserted. i

The top and bottom sheets are xed to the top quilt and the bottom quilt or thin mattress Vby means of pockets on the sheets, the said pockets being formed by folding the sides and the ends of the sheets and sewing them together at the corners so that a pocket extending all around each sheet is formed. The free broad border portions of the top quilt and the bottom quilt or thin mattress are inserted 'in the saidpockets. But the sheets can of course be fixed also by buttonholes made thereinand by corresponding buttons on the top quilt and the bottom quilt or thin mattress.

An embodiment of the invention is illustrated on the accompanying drawing, in which- Fig. 1 -shows a couch in side elevation.

Fig. 2 is a plan view of a quilt or thin mattress with appertaining sheet, the rectangular seam by which the top quilt or the bottom quilt or thin mattress is xed to the casing being indicated in dashed lines, the casing being removed for the sake of simplicity.

Fig. 3 is a cross section of the bed and of a. casing surrounding the same on the line III--III of Fig. 1.

Fig. 4 shows another method of fixing the top and bottom sheets to the top and bottom quilts.

Fig. 5 is a perspective view showing the means yfor securing the pillow to the bottom quilt or thin mattress.

9 and 8 respectively, pillow I0 with pillow-case, top quilt 1 and/or blanket are adapted` to be contained in a casing in theshape of a sleeve 5 which is open at both ends. The bottom portion of the said sleeve is elongated at the head end and the top portion yat the foot end. The foot end is norfv mally closed. Along its longitudinal edges the casing is divided into a top portion and a bottom portion and each edge is provided with a zipper4 fastener I2 with a sliding piece I2a. The `bed having once been made, the casing having been closed by means ofthe zipper fasteners, and the elongated portion of the bottom casing at the headend having been folded over, the bed is laid down in complete condition in the drawer 2 and` is taken out therefrom in the same condition and placed on the mattress 3 on the` bed support I. .1 Y v The elongated portion I3 of the top of the casing which covers the opening at the foot end is folded together with the top quilt, `and is :ilxed to the bottom of the casing by means of a num` ber of straps or button-holes which are buttoned on to corresponding :buttons I4. The elongated head portion 2U of the bottom of the casing `is folded around the couch cushion 5a and under the end of the mattress 3. The zipper fasteners can be disengaged whereby the top and bottom portions of the casing are separated, which is advantageous when the bed is to be cleaned.

In order to make the bed rm the bottom quilt or thin mattress 6 and the top quilt 1 are xed by means of a rectangular seam I5 or the like to the bottom and top portions of the easing in such a way that the outer edges are free and that the bottom sheet 8 and the top sheet 9 can be folded over the longitudinal and transverse border portions of the bottom quilt and of the top quilt. The longitudinal and transverse border portions of the bottom sheet 8 are turned in and sewn together by seams I 6 in such a way that they form pockets at the back of the sheet, in which pockets the bottom quilt or a thin mattress :is to be inserted. In order to further hold the sheets outstretched, if necessary, the quilts can be pro` vided with one or two buttons IBa and the sheets with corresponding button-holes I 6b. The top sheet 9 is fixed to the top quilt in the same way as the bottom sheet to the bottom quilt. Instead of the seams I6 and the buttons I 6a, the top and 3 bottom sheets can be xed to the top and bottom quilts by the folded longitudinal and transverse border portions of the sheets being provided with button-holes IGc adapted to be buttoned on to buttons 16d on the top and bottom quilts. By placing the buttons at a suitable distan-ce from one another the sheets will t tight to the quilts. On the loivfefside of tl'ie 4lc'ittom quilt-there may be provided'als'o,' at the'head end, two'v buttons [8a which engage the button holes I8b of the cover flap I1 of the pillow-case of the pillow I0 so that the pillow is xed to the bottom quilt or thinmattress, and is held in correct position, which of course is an advantage when the bed equipment is to be moved to and from the bed suppor't In this case the bottom sheet should be provided with button-holes 2| at this place. The bottom quilt. 6 is longer than the top quilt l and extends beyond the head end thereof and rests on the cuen-- ion 5a which in turn rests on the support 4.

Bed equipment as defined in claim 1 in which the means for detachably securing the edges of the topi andf-bottonrportions' of the''casing are zipper'fasteners and in which thezipper fasteners are covered on the inside of the casing by cloth flaps secured to the casing along lines adjacent to-butlocated at a distance from the parallel edges thereof;
