When the terminal 220 is connected to a custom bus 230, a loop is formed, and the photocoupler 216 is turned (ON), and the output level of the output circuit 217 goes to a (low). Also, when no terminal 220 is connected to the bus, no loop is formed, and the photocoupler 216 is turned (OFF), therefore, the output level of the output circuit 217 goes to a (high). A transmission control circuit 211 can judge the connection state of the terminal 220 corresponding to the output level of the loop current detecting circuit 215, and can inform the state to a station side via a digital subscriber line.
