PURPOSE:To execute a pseudo half tone binarizing processing by means of a simple binarizing processing and a dither method by providing a dither matrix memory and a binarizing mode setting means in an image binarizing device to execute the pseudo half tone binarizing processing by means of an error diffusing method. CONSTITUTION:When a simple binarizing mode is selected, since distribution errors (a)-(d) from an error dispersing memory 22 all output '0' due to an error table RAM enable signal (g), an error dispersion is not executed. The threshold for the simple binarizing is outputted to a binarizing slice level (f) by a dither matrix selecting signal (h) from a mode setting register 24, and a simple binarizing signal (k) is outputted. When the binarizing mode of the dither method is selected, since the threshold for the dither corresponding to each picture element is outputted to the binarizing slice level (f) of a dither matrix memory 23, the binarizing signal of the dither (k) is outputted.
