Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the loss and make a device light-weight, by covering both end faces, at least, of the whole of the outside face of a piezoelectric sheet, which is formed into a cylinder, water-tightly with insulating materials having an acoustic impedance density approximating that of a used medium. CONSTITUTION:A piezoelectric sheet 1 which has electrodes 3 and 4 on both faces and is provided with an insulating material 2 on one electrode 4 is molded into a cylinder by rolling. This piezoelectric sheet 1 molded into a cylinder is covered with insulating materials 5, which have an acoustic impedance density approximating that of a used medium, watertightly without leaving air bubbles and air layers, thus forming a vibrator. By this watertight structure, the acoustic impedance density of the sheet 1 approximates that of water closely, and most of coming sounds is incident to the sheet 1. Further, by this structure, a transmitter and receiver is obtained which endures the external water pressure sufficiently and is light-weight and has less loss.
