Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the position of a web without contacting by providing a radiation type web thickness gage, an optical wave top position gage and an optical top end face position detector, and detecting and operating web thickness, web top surface position and flange top end surface position. CONSTITUTION:The radiation emitted from a radiation source 16 transmits through a web 10, and is deteted with a radiation detector 18, the signal whereof is supplied to a signal processor, by which web thickness (b) is operated and is fed to an arithmetic procesor 22. The position of the spot radiated from a laser projector 26 to the top surface of the web 10 is detected with a position detector 28, and a web top position signal (m) is fed to the processsor 22. The top end face position (n) of a flange 14 is fed via a flange top end position gage 30 and a detector 32 to the processor 22, by which a web position (d) is operated and is displayed in a display device 34. Thereby, the web position (d) is measured without contacting.
