Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an operator from forgetting to make a timer switch and to sound an alarm when a timer is set to an erroneous time, by a method wherein, a display condition is changed in case a timer switch is not brought to a making state, at a time when a timer is set to an erroneous time. CONSTITUTION:Only in case a timer switch (a) turns ON, a coincidence detecting circuit 3 is activated, and a timer output is generated. In case the switch (a) is not brought to a making state, and in case a timer time set in a timer time memory part 2 is set in an erroneous manner such that an ON and an OFF time reverse or an ON and OFF is set at same time, a setting of a timer time is useless. Thus, at a time when making the switch (a), a time display part 5 is switched to a flickering display through the working of an alarming means 6 to produce an alarm. This prevents an operator from forgetting to make a timer switch and activates an alarm when a timer is set to an erroneous time, which results in allowing to perform a reliable recording through a VTR by setting a timer to an accurate time.
