Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the fuel consumption rate of a car engine from becoming unreasonable for a low speed run by controlling the engine ignition timing in such a manner that an ignition lead angle, which matches a low speed run, can be selected, in accordance with a throttle valve opening detected by an idling switch. CONSTITUTION:When an idling switch is set to on, the ignition timing is regulated taking the car speed, speed change gear shift position, and engine P.P.M. into consideration. In other words, if the car speed is less than 10km/h, or the gear shift position is at neutral, and or the P.P.M. is greater than 1,000, the engine run is discriminated to be a no-load operation to regulate the ignition timing by the ignition timing lead angle for no-load operation. On the other hand, even if the idling switch is set to ON, if the car speed exceeds 10km/h, moreover the gear shift position is out of the neutral, and moreover if the P.P.M. is less than about 1,000, this engine run is discriminated to be a low speed run, and the ignition timing is regulated by the same lead angle with that for loaded operation during which the idling switch is set to off.
