The rate of erasure is increased by increasing the recording current and residual erasure can be improved remarkably. Since the track width Tw is wider than a track pitch Tp, no guard band is caused, and even if an overlapped write track pattern 24 is shifted from a recorded pattern 23, the overlapped signal only is recorded on a tape. Thus, residual erasure can be improved and excellent reproduction can be made.
