Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit an automatic speed change with an optimum fuel consumption even on an uphill road by providing a correction circuit which changes the speed change characteristic of its control circuit to that for the sloping road by detecting the travelling road slop according to the atmospheric pressure fluctuation during travelling.
CONSTITUTION: Provided is a correction circuit which comprises an uphill road detector 130 and an uphill road circuit 133 and changes the speed change characteristic of the control circuit to that for the sloping road by detectig the travelling road slope according to the atmospheric pressure fluctuation during travelling. When the uphill road detector 130 detects an uphill road and generates a voltage E(V) from an output terminal 131, hysteresis is made to disappear for a period of time T. Therefore, in case of travelling with the speed change characteristic for the uphill road and the vehicle speed connect be maintained owing to the large engine load through the gear according to said characteristic, when the vehicle speed is within said hysteresis, the gear is shifted to one step lower so that the vehicle can be accelerated. Then, the vehicle can travel on the uphill road in an automatic speed change manner with said optimum fuel consumption.
