Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve remarkably the air heating effect and dehumidifying effect by bringing first the air in the passenger compartment into contact with the external air in a heat exchanger duct for the purpose of rapid cooling and dehumidification and then feeding the cooled air to a heater unit and discharging thus heated air into the passenger compartment. CONSTITUTION:In the air heating when a shutter 9 is at a position (a) indicated by a dotted line, an external air introduced by the rotation of a fan 2 into a duct 4 through an external air inlet 7 flows through a heat exchanging duct 8 into the heater unit 1 via an outlet 8c, where it is heated. After that, the hot air is discharged into the passenger compartment via a discharging opening 1a. Next, when the shutter 9 is at a position (b) indicated by a solid line, the warm air in the passenger compartment introduced through an air outlet 5 is all fed into the heat exchanging duct 8, where it is rapidly cooled and dehumidified by the external air fed into the duct 4 through a heat exchanging member 8a. Then, thus cooled and dehumidified air is fed into the heater unit 1 to be heated and then discharged into the passenger compartment. As a result, the window clouding can be prevented to a great extent due to the low humidity of the heated air.
