Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain stable video signals from the outer and inner circumferences of a video disk by varying a white clip level according to the radius-directional recording position of the video disk. CONSTITUTION:A video signal inputted to terminal A is converted into binary information by way of pre-emphasizing circuit 3, clamping circuit 4a, white clipping circuit 32, FM modulator 5, etc., and then recorded on disk 13 turning at a constant rotational frequency. The recording position in the radius direction of disk 13 is detected by position detector 30 and the white clip level of circuit 32 is controlled so that the white clip level of recording will be lower at the inner circumference than at the outer circumference. Because of the control over this clip level, an inversion phenomenon due to overmodulation is suppressed and a stable video signal can be obtained.
