Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
BACKGROUND OF THE
[0002]
[Prior art]
The widespread use of computers has brought about a major change in the field of printing, and now it is common to use computers for layout. Usually, an image to be printed is taken into a computer as digital image data using a scanner device or the like, and a character string to be printed is taken into a computer as a character code using a keyboard or the like. Layout data can be created by performing layout work on a computer using images and character strings captured in this way. Based on this layout data, the original film can be output, or the printed matter can be output directly from the printer. You can make it.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, the printing company that is the contractor is responsible for creating printed materials in response to orders from the customer who is the contractor, but the processing at the ordering stage from this customer is still such as order forms and assignment specification sheets. This is often done by handing over paper documents. A large amount of images are stored in the database of the printing company as a database. If the customer can use the images in this database, efficient layout processing can be performed. Has not been able to make full use of this database because there was no effective means to let customers use this database. In particular, when product information such as leaflets, catalogs, and information magazines is to be printed, it is difficult for customers to use the latest information in the database, and there is a problem that it is not responsive.
[0004]
In addition, when printing flyers, catalogs, promotional posters, direct mails, information magazines, etc., the products, prices, catchphrases, etc. to be published are information specific to each customer. Work to input to the computer is required. For this reason, input errors are likely to occur, and there is a problem that subsequent calibration processing takes time. Further, the customer cannot recognize at the time of order what kind of print result is finally obtained when printing is performed with the content instructed in the order form. For this reason, there are many cases where the actual printing result does not become as intended.
[0005]
Therefore, it is very important to perform order processing efficiently while making the orderer use the database on the side of the contractor effectively. In that case, in order to confirm the result of the layout on the orderer side, the orderer side may want to output it with a color printer or the like, but at that time, the color of the image output on the orderer side and the actual If the color at the time of printing by the printing company is different, it becomes difficult for the orderer to evaluate the image correctly.
[0006]
Therefore, the present invention can efficiently perform order processing while effectively using the orderer's database on the orderer side, and the color when the layout result is output as an image on the orderer side It is an object of the present invention to provide a printed material creation system using a network that can be equivalent to the color in the case of printing with the printer.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the invention will be described with reference to the drawings. In the following, a flyer is taken up as a printed matter, and the work and system operation in the case of creating a flyer will be described. The present invention is generally applicable in the case of creating a printed material in which a desired document is assigned to one or a plurality of predetermined areas (referred to as frames). Here, a document refers to a document assigned to a frame, which may be a character string only, an image only, or may include both an image and a character string.
[0009]
FIG. 1 is a diagram showing an embodiment of a printed material creation system using a network according to the present invention. In FIG. 1,

[0013]
[Input and output profiles]
Before describing the operation of the system shown in FIG. 1, first, an input profile described later and output profiles mounted on the
[0014]
When a document assigned to a frame includes an image, the original of the image is color-separated by a color scanner and converted into digital data. However, strictly speaking, the color-separation characteristics of the color scanner are different from each other. Therefore, now, assuming that the color scanner converts the read document image into digital data of four colors of cyan (C), magenta (M), yellow (Y), and black (K), the same document image is converted into a plurality of documents. When input by a color scanner, the C, M, Y, and K values of the same pixel are usually not the same.
[0015]
As for color printers, there are machine differences in output colors. When the same document is output by a plurality of color printers, the colors of the output images are generally different.
[0016]
In this system, as will be described later, the orderer can download the layout data of the leaflet laid out by itself, and the downloaded layout data (as will be described later, this layout data includes documents assigned to each frame). The created flyer can be displayed on the
[0017]
Therefore, in this system, when displaying or outputting an image on the orderer side, as shown in FIG. 2, C, M, Y, and K of the document input by the color scanner are temporarily stored in the standard color system. The color is converted into color, and when it is displayed on the
[0018]
A file for color-converting C, M, Y, and K of a document into a standard color system color is called an input profile, and the standard color system color C, M, Y, A file for color conversion to K is called an output profile for an output device, and a file for color conversion to R, G, B suitable for the
[0019]
Now, for input profile, C, M, Y, K of the document is L*, A*, B*However, when the color conversion is performed, even if the document is input with a different color scanner, the color of the original image is the same as the L*, A*, B*The values of must be the same. That is, as described above, if the input color scanner is different, generally the values of C, M, Y, and K which are color-separated are different. Therefore, two original images containing the same color are separately obtained. When input with a color scanner, the values of C, M, Y, and K are generally different for the same color, but the standard color system L*, A*, B*L when converted to*, A*, B*The values of must be the same. The validity of this will be clear.
[0020]
Therefore, in order to create an input profile for each color scanner, color patches whose C, M, Y, and K values for each color are known are read in advance, and the resulting C, M, Y, and K values are obtained. K value, L*, A*, B*, Values of C, M, Y, K defined for each color of the color patch, and L*, A*, B*C, M, Y, K read by the color scanner based on the value when converted to*, A*, B*A table for color conversion can be created.
[0021]
Note that the color scanners of the printing company are appropriately adjusted so that almost any value of C, M, Y, K can be obtained regardless of which color scanner reads the original image. The number of input profiles may be one, but here, it is assumed that an input profile is created for each color scanner.
[0022]
The creation of the output profile is as follows. Although the creation of the output profile for the output device will be described here, the same applies to the output profile for the display device.
[0023]
First, a color patch is output by the output device 16, and each color of the output color patch is measured. In the data used to output the color patch at this time, the values of C, M, Y, and K of each color are known, and accordingly, L required to obtain the values of C, M, Y, and K is known.*, A*, B*The value of is also known. Accordingly, based on the C, M, Y, and K values of the data used to output the color patch and the measured C, M, Y, and K values, a certain L*, A*, B*When the output device outputs the color of the value of C, it can be seen what the values of C, M, Y, K should be, and from this, an output profile can be created.
The output profile created in this way is mounted on the output device 16.
[0024]
Now, an example of a layout data creation process using the system shown in FIG. 1 and an example of the operation at that time will be described below.
[Step S1: Database creation and registration]
First, data of various parts used for creating a leaflet is created and registered as a database in the
[0025]
An example of the frame arrangement pattern is shown in FIG. In FIG. 3, the frames on which the product documents are posted are arranged in two stages, and three frames are arranged in each stage. At the lowest position, a store name column A is provided. In the store name column A, a store name document including a store name, a telephone number, a store tagline, a map indicating the store location, an image showing the exterior of the store, and the like is allocated.
[0026]
Such a frame arrangement pattern can be created using, for example, a table creation function of the
[0027]
The file format for registering the created frame arrangement pattern as a database is arbitrary, but here, PDF (Portable Document Format), which is one of page description languages, is used.
[0028]
Also, two types of frame arrangement patterns, high resolution and low resolution, are registered in the database. This is as follows. In other words, when the layout is performed on the orderer side and the layout data is created, and it is actually printed at the printing company or the layout data is downloaded and output on the orderer side, the resolution is sufficient. High resolution data is required. On the other hand, as will be described later, the
[0029]
Furthermore, a name is given to each frame of the created frame arrangement pattern, and information on the name is embedded in each frame. Then, for each frame arrangement pattern, the name information embedded in each frame is collectively registered as a database. This is the configuration file. For example, taking the frame arrangement pattern shown in FIG. 3 as an example, the upper leftmost frame to which the product document is assigned is the upper first frame, the right upper frame is the upper second frame, and the lower leftmost frame. A name is assigned to the first column in the lower row, and the names of these frames are used as a setting file for the frame arrangement pattern.
[0030]
Next, regarding the creation of a product document, in a flyer, a product document often includes a product image, its product name, and a catch phrase. From the orderer side, the manuscript may be submitted as an image, a product name, and a catch phrase as a single unit, or may be submitted separately. In the former case, an image, product name, and catch phrase can be read together with a color scanner, input and registered in the database as a single file. In the latter case, the image original is printed in color. The product name and catch phrase are input using the word processor function or the table function of the
[0031]
As for the creation of merchandise documents, high resolution and low resolution ones are registered in a database. This is the same reason as described above. Furthermore, for the product documents, image data may be created for each document in a predetermined format such as JPEG format. For example, as the database of the

The creation of the store name document and the registration in the database are the same as the product document, and the high resolution, low resolution, and image data thereof are created and stored in the

Various methods are conceivable as to how to manage the data registered in the database of the
[0034]
By the way, in the above-mentioned example, an imaged JPEG file has not been created for the frame arrangement pattern, but this is a simple character string and product document as shown in FIG. The store name column for displaying the frame and the store name document is provided, and the amount of data is smaller than that of the product document and the store name document. Even when the operator of the
[0035]
In addition, it is necessary to publish a price with a product image and a catch phrase in a leaflet. In the above explanation, the price is not described, but the price fluctuates, so that the price is automatically requested at a predetermined timing of the flyer layout work as described below. It has been made. Of course, it is possible to automatically request not only the price but also the catch phrase at an appropriate timing. Here, it is assumed that only a price input request is made.

The system color is converted to C, M, Y, and K, and output processing is executed. Thereby, the color output from the output device 16 becomes equivalent to the color printed by the printing company, and the leaflet can be evaluated.
The above is the case of outputting by the output device 16, but the same applies to the case of displaying on the
