Abstract
A process for the production of non-evaporable high porosity getter materials having high gas absorption rates comprising the mixing of a metal getter element, a getter alloy and a solid organic compound, all three components being in the form of powders of a specific particle size, is described. The mixture prepared in this way is subjected to compression at below 1000 kg/cm<2> and is sintered at a temperature between 900 and 1200 degree C for a time of between 5 minutes and one hour. With the getter material so obtained it is possible to produce getter materials in the form of pellets, sheets or discs having greater mechanical strength in comparison with similar bodies obtained with getter material of the known type having comparable porosity values. <IMAGE>
