Abstract

963,957. Container closures. A. J. RANSFORD. (Astra Apotekarnas Kemiska Fabriker A.B.). Nov. 29, 1962, No. 45168/62. Heading B8T. A lid 1 (Fig. 1) of resilient or elastic material, preferably plastics, has a periphery 10 with an inner annular bead 2 for gripping the rib 3 of a container 4, and has an inner concentric wall 5 which has one or more flanges 6 (Fig. 2) projecting towards the bead 2 so that an application to the container the flanges press against the inner wall of the container to form a seal. The distance between the flanges 6, which should taper from the wall 5 to their outer peripheral part 7 which is of even thickness, should be greater than the extent of projection of the flanges towards the bead 2. Preferred ratios of measurements are given. The lid can be provided with a grip (not shown) on the periphery 10 to facilitate removal.
