838,879. Jugs. BULPITT & SONS Ltd. Jan. 29, 1958 [Oct. 30, 1956], No. 33056/56. Class 66. [Also in Group XI] A container 1 of an electrically heated jug has its top opening flared to a rim 3 which has a raised portion 5. An inlet socket 10, an indicator lamp 8, and an adjusting knob 9 for a thermostatic control are located beneath the portion 5 so that should the contents of the container boil over, they will tend to flow over the lip 4 of the rim, and socket, lamp and knob will be protected by the portion 5 ; the handle will also share the protection. The portion 5 is inclined inwardly to assist in containing the contents. Alternatively, lower parts of the rim may be between the lip and the portion 5, the opposite sides of the run being shaped to form lower rim portions over which the contents of the container will tend to pass if they boil over. The jug may have a cover or lid.
