Abstract

1345703 Kettles BULPITT & SONS Ltd 26 April 1971 [22 April 1970 3 June 1970] 19158/70 and 26696/70 Heading A4A [Also in Division H5] In a water heater or kettle of the type comprising an electric heating element 2 immersed in the water in a container and controlled by a switch responsive to steam conveyed thereto by a duct 3 with an oven end above the water level in the container, a cover part above the open end of the duct restrains water from entering the duct from above. The cover part is constituted by the upper wall 5 of a thimble 4 or 25, which may form a portion of the kettle wall 1, Fig.1, engaging or adjacent the kettle handle 6, or which may be a separate cap 25, Fig.13, surrounded by a protrusion 24 of a removable lid 22. Baffle arrangements provided by the cover parts or additional thereto prevent water splashing up into the duct 3, Figs. 3-10, (not shown). The cover part may alternatively be the curvedover end portion 19, Fig.11, of duct 3.
