Abstract
736,631. Reciprocating motors. GOODMANS INDUSTRIES, Ltd. June 10, 1953 [July 16, 1952], No. 16020/53. Divided out of 736,593. Class 35. A magnetic vibrator comprises a plurality of driving coils wound on an armature and a switch mechanism for connecting the coils in series or in parallel or for connecting the coils selectively to the supply. Fig. 1 shows a permanent magnet structure having an annular air gap in which three driving coils 12, 13, 14 are, located and carried by a former 7. These coils may be wound successively or together, i.e. the windings of the three coils alternate along the former, or in superimposed layers. While Fig. 1 shows a centrally located permanent magnet 1 with an axial bore to accommodate freely the driving rod 8, it is also possible to employ the reverse arrangement, namely, a centre pole member of mild steel and an outer permanent magnet ring.
