[Also in Group XXVIII] A permanent magnet 26 carried at the free end of an L-shaped bracket 22 secured at a midportion to the diaphragm 24 of an air compressor and secured to its other end to a fixed leafspring 21 is caused to oscillate between poles 29, 30 of an electromagnet 27, the winding 28 of which is supplied with alternating current. The poles 29, 30 are connected by a ferromagnetic strip 31 thus preventing fusing of the winding in the event of the diaphragm 24 and hence magnet 29 becoming stuck.
