Abstract

513,369. Electric water-heaters. BETTS, W. M. April 8, 1938, No. 10735. [Class 39 (iii)] In an electric flow heater two tubes 11 sandwich between them a flat heating element 12, Fig. 4. The tubes 11 are clamped between rods 26, 28 and are constructed to provide a serpentive water flow. Water passes through an inlet 31, Fig. 2, and control valve 32 to the rear tube 11 through which it passes to the top and thence through tube 34 to the front tube 11 and the outlet 35. The heating elements 12 are divided into upper and lower sections connected in parallel, and are controlled by a switch 38<1>, so positioned relatively to the handle 32<1> of the water valve that when the water is turned off the current is automatically switched ,off, The construction may be modified by having any number of tubes 11 with, heating elements sandwiched between adjacent tubes.
