Abstract
362,486. Golf clubs. HORSBURGH, T., Baronscourt Terrace, Edinburgh. Aug. 30, 1930, Nos. 25917, 29959, and 32296. [Class 132 (ii).] The head 1. is secured , to the hollow metal shaft 2 by means of a metal pin 4, the head 4a of which is square, hexagonal or otherwise suitably shaped and engages a corresponding recess in the sole to prevent rotation. Theupper portion of this pin is threaded into a nut 5 located within the end of the shaft 2, the threads being left-handed for a right-handed player and vice versa. The circular nut 5, Fig. 4, is tapered to correspond to the internal contour of the shaft 2, inserted from the top thereof and soldered in position. Alternatively, a tapered, square sectioned nut 5, Figs. 5 and 6, may be positioned in a correspondingly squared end of the shaft. According to the first Provisional Specification the pin 4 may be threaded into the head 1, the upper thread engaging the nut 5 being oppositely cut. According to the third Provisional Specification the shaft may be internally screw threaded, the nut being dispensed with, and a ferrule or wrapping may be fitted over the neck portion of wooden-headed clubs.
