Abstract

420,332. Golf clubs. OGILVIE, J. R., 32, Montgomerie Street, Edinburgh. March 3, 1934, No. 30902/33. [Class 132 (ii)] The socket 4 of a wooden golf club head 5 has a downwardly tapered bore in which is frictionally secured a metallic sleeve 6 internally tapered to receive the metallic tubular shaft 10, the head, sleeve and shaft being secured by a screw 11 or the like. The sleeve, which extends right through the socket, may be split from its upper end for the greater portion of its length. A metallic ferrule 9 may be secured to its upper end and bound with twine, and a wooden plug 12 is inserted in its lower end. In a modification the socket bore is provided with a metallic liner 13, Fig. 4, which frictionally receives the downwardly tapered sleeve 6. The liner may be cylindrical, downwardly, or upwardly tapered externally, and is secured to the sleeve 6 before its insertion into the bore of the socket.
