Abstract

A bag 1 with wheels 5 to which an infant can be secured, supported and transported. Preferably the bag 1 includes an integral seat 2 which may be assembled for use and stowed away afterwards. Alternatively the seat 2 may be detachable. The bag handle 7 may form a backrest 4 for the infant and a securing harness 3 may also be provided. The seat 2 and harness 3 may be stored in a pocket. The bag 1 may be portable and may be carried on an aeroplane as hand luggage and used to transport an infant through the airport.

Description

Portable bag
This invention relates to a portable bag on which an infant can be secured, supported and transported.
When a commercial airliner arrives at its destination it is rare that children's pushchairs, used to transport them to the aeroplane, are available at the arrival gate. Thus the infant has to be transported by some other means until its pushchair can be recovered in the baggage reclaim area.
To overcome this an infants seat can be made integral with or be attached to a wheelie bag such that an infant can be secured to It. The infant can thus be supported on the bag and transported. The bag should be of such dimensions as to allow it to be carried on commercial aeroplanes as hand luggage. This invention overcomes the often difficult situation where an infants parent or guardian has to transport the infant along with any baggage through an airport without the use of the child's pushchair.
Examples of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows a portable bag with an integral infant's seat, Figure 2 shows the bag from the front with an example of a securing harness, Figure 3 shows the bag from the side with an example of an integral seat supported by the bag's handle, Figure 4 shows the bag from the rear with further details of how an integral seat could be supported by the bag's handle.
The portable bag 1 will be of suitably sturdy construction to support an infant and should have overall dimensions to allow it to be carried on commercial airliners as hand baggage. The seat or support 2 for the infant can be integral with the bag or separate and attached to the bag by some means. There will also be means to suitably secure the child to the bag 3. The back of the seat 4 should provide suitable support for the child's comfort and safety. The wheels S and feet or pads 6, at the base of the bag, provide stability when the bag is sat in the upright position. The dimensions of the bag 1 should be such that It is easily pulled, for example by a handle 7 as shown, with or without an infant on board. The handle itself may be used to support the back of the seat 8. When not in use, an Integral seat and any securing straps may be stowed away within suitable stowage pockets. They may be re-deployed when required for use. An attachable seat can be detached when not required for use. The bag can be used similarly to conventional portable bags when the infant's seat is stowed or removed as appropriate.

  1. Claims 1 A bag with wheels to which an infant can be secured, supported
    and transported.
  2. 2 A bag according to dalm 1 featuring an integral infant's seat.
  3. 3 A bag according to daim 2 in which the integral seat can be un-stowed and assembled for use.
  4. 4 A bag according to claim 3 in which seat can be disassembled and stowed after use.
    A bag according to claim 1 featuring an attachable and detachable infant's seat.
