Abstract
A light weight inflatable two or thee jointed booster car seat for children when travelling abroad, is made from a lightweight material. When deflated, it can be folded flat for storage in a suitcase or carry bag for transport in an aeroplane or other vehicle. The seat is preferably a three seat booster seat conforming to a three point safety belt regulation (9 see fig 3), and a two point safety belt (10 see fig 3). Each seat has four or more individual inflatable chambers 11, 12, 16, 17. This allows each seat to be individually inflated for children of different heights. This also conforms to the safety requirements for the position of the safety belt, by altering the seat height. As a child grows, a safe position for the belt can be maintained. The number of air compartments is also a further safety factor against a puncture to the seat. When fully inflated, a middle seat (2 see fig 1) provides storage (5, 6 see fig 1) for beaker cups and toys. A book storage compartment (3 see fig 3) can be folded over in a suitable direction (21 see fig 3) and secured at the rear by hook and loop strips (8, 14 see fig 3). This seat can be used for an older child who does not require a booster seat but wishes to be able to view out the vehicle. It can also be completely deflated for an adult using a two point safety belt. The seat is inflated manually or by means of an electric pump.
Description
INTELLECTUAL
. .... PROPERTY OFFICE Application No. GB 1004602.7 RTM Date:14 July 2010 The following terms are registered trademarks and should be read as such wherever they occur in this document: Velcro Intellectual Property Office is an operating name of the Patent Office www.ipo.gov.uk DISCRJPTION.
The invention relates to an inflatable more functional and convenient children's car booster seat in the form of a two or three seat jointed configuration that folds into a flat pack form.
When families travel aboard with two or more children of different ages and sizes, parents find it costly and inconvenient to pack in large heavy child seats into luggage for air flights.
The charges for hiring at their destination is exorbitant. This reusable invention when de-flated is light weight and when folded, fits into a suitcase.
The advantages of the two or thee configuration booster seat are 1. Each seat can be individually inflated for each child from Group 2 and 3 or the cen-tral seat can be deflated for a child over the height of 4 feet and 6 inches using the central three point or lap belt safety system, Fig. 4 no.2 and Fig. 3 no. 2 with no.3 folded over and secured to Velcro Fig.3 no. 8.
2. Two children in Group 2 and 3 can have the middle seat inflated for storage of beaker cups and toys as well as book storage in the cover for the middle seat Fig. 3, no.1 and no. 5, 6 and 3 see Fig. 3 no. 3.
3. Depending on the size of each child the seats can be individually inflated and ad- justed to the child's size Fig. 4 no. 11,12, 16 and 17, to conform to the safety stan-dard ECE 1244.04 for safety belt position of the child's body.
4. The deflated central booster seat Fig. 3 no. 2 can be covered with the book storage compartment Fig. 3 no. 3 can be attached to Velcro Fig. 3 no 8 running the full length of the three or two seat configuration.
5. The two or three seat configuration is secured via the reinforced apertures for the safety belts in Fig. 2 no. 7 and Fig. 3 no.7. Plus any extra Velcro straps to the car seat if required.
6. If required for home use one of the end booster seats can be deflated and a standard child's seat fitted.
DRAWINGS.
The invention is described with reference to the following drawings.
