Abstract

1425296 Adjustable hospital beds SOC PROVENCALE DE FABRICATIONS MEDICOCHIRURGICALES SPOMC 29 Jan 1974 [30 Jan 1973] 04002/74 Heading A4J A hospital bed comprises a mattress support frame B adjustably mounted on a base frame A by two pairs of independently inflatable cushions 13a, 13b and 14a, 14b disposed between the support frame and the base frame, head and leg supporting members 7 being pivotally connected to the central part 5 of the support frame and each being adjustable about its pivotal connection 6 by a least one inflatable cushion 9 disposed between a plate 8 rigid with the support member 7 and a plate 10 rigid with the support frame B. Each cushion 9 may be replaced by two side by side interconnected cushions. The base frame A may be supported on four independently adjustable telescopic legs 27, 30. In a second embodiment, the two legs (5, 6) Figs. 6-12 (not shown) which are disposed on the longitudinal centre line of the bed are pivotally connected to the base frame about transverse axis and the two legs (5, 7) which are disposed on the transverse centre line are hinged to the base frame for movement through 90 degrees about longitudinal axes such that rollers (70) which are mounted on axles extending laterally of the legs (5, 7) may be brought into contact with the ground. A bed-pan or other equipment may be disposed beneath the central part which is provided with an opening. The base frame may comprise two shells 25, 26 secured together by connectors 47 having an H-shape cross-section. In the second embodiment base frame comprises. two longitudinal box members (51), (52) which are spaced apart by a horizontal base (53), endpieces having a U-shape horizontal cross-section being disposed at the head and foot ends of the horizontal base.
