Abstract

1414632 Colour television tubes A W STANDAART 24 Oct 1972 [29 Oct 1971] 58121/73 Divided out of 1414631 Heading H1D A shadow-mask colour cathode-ray tube having a phosphor dot screen employs a gun system generally as disclosed in Specification 1,401,229, but in which the cathode has only three flat emissive strip surfaces 27A, and the control grid and first anode each have only three apertures 24A, Fig. 3, disposed at the apices of an equiangular triangle, the apertures in the control grid and anode being so disposed relative to one another as to produce a convergence angle of the three beams at the shadow mask of not more than 8 degrees, and preferably of about 2 degrees, permitting the use of reduced phosphor dot size and spacing, with consequent increase of resolution. The phosphor screen may be prepared by the method claimed in the parent Specification.
