Abstract

1376844 Colour television tubes RCA CORPORATION 27 Jan 1972 [3 Feb 1971] 3816/72 Heading H1D A beam convergence device for a colour television tube using three co-planar beams comprises a pair of permanent magnet structures mounted on opposite sides of the neck of the tube, each being capable of producing a field of variable strength and direction and influencing a respective one of the outer beams. Fig. 4, shows an exploded view of one of the magnetic structures comprising a pair of diametrically magnetized ceramic discs 34 and 35 of low permeability mounted within respective retaining collars 32 and 33 on a spindle 31 which extends into a mounting plate 26a; rotation of one disc varies the field strength and rotation of both varies the direction of the field. Two mounting plates are clamped together round the neck of the tube by spring clips with their associated magnetic structures lying in the same plane as the beams.
