Abstract

1370829 Electron beam magnetic deflecting apparatus MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 6 March 1972 10422/72 Heading H1D A toroidal deflection yoke for a cathode-ray tube comprises a toroidal core of magnetic material and guide means providing partitions defining spaces in which the horizontal and vertical deflection coils are wound. In Fig. 3 a guide ring 4 comprises an annular side wall 41, which fits round the outer periphery of the end portion 2 of the core 1, a flange portion 42 extending inwardly to engage the end face of the core, and partitions 43 equally spaced round the periphery. The rear guide ring 5 is similar except that the annular side wall 51 fits inside the core. The horizontal and vertical deflection windings (not shown) are wound in alternate spaces between the partitions 43, except in the centre parts of each coil; the number of turns in each space may be varied to give optimum results. In a modification (Figs. 7-10, not shown) the spacing between the partitions 43 varies to provide a wide space at the centre of each coil tapering to narrow spaces towards the extemities to produce a winding arrangement analogous to a cosine distribution.
