Alternatively, a plurality of steps (52) may be provided (Fig. 8, not shown), and a concentrated turns distribution adjacent apex (481) may produce a pin magnetic field. The grooves may be enlarged toward their open end (Fig. 9, not shown) and radially extending tabs (64) prevent displacement of the conductor in the region where the density is increased, which is stated to be particularly effective for a two part frame. The core may be of ferrite and the coil frame of polypropylene. The spacing between adjacent turns may be increased towards the front.
