1,088,699. Article dispensing apparatus. CAPTAIN INTERNATIONAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 10, 1966 [Aug. 9, 1965], No. 5948/66. Heading A4T. Room service apparatus comprises a cabinet having various articles stored on hinged shelves 22 and stacks of cans 81 releasable one at a time on to a shoot 88 leading to an extraction trough 101 when a selected switch 108 is operated in a keyopened console to actuate either a solenoid 51 which raises a ratchet bar with openings permitting a crank on a selected shelf hinge to pass through and release an article or a solenoid 83 to tilt a spring- loaded trough 75 to release one can. Each switch 108 also starts a stepping switch which, in co-operation with a shoot switch operated by an article thereon and a switch 106 operated by raising the shoot when opening the trough 101 to extract the article, allows pulses to operate a remote indicator 216, summate the price of the articles and return the mechanism and switches to a position for the dispensing of the next article. The switches are interlocked for only one actuation at a time.
