Abstract

The heat exchanger consists of a bundle of straight tubes held in place by two circular plates. The tubes are arranged in radial lines. Other plates are placed outside the first plates thus covering the ends of the tubes. These outer plates are hollowed in places to make cups which correspond with the ends of the tubes establishing a link between two adjacent tubes. The hollow in the two plates are alternated so that different pairs of tubes are linked at the top and bottom and a continuous circuit along one radial line is established. There is an inlet chamber fed by an axial inlet at the top and an outlet chamber and tube at the bottom. The whole unit is enclosed in a tank with a removable cover through which the secondary circuit flows. Its modular construction makes possible the coupling of several generators to obtain the required effectiveness. It is easily taken apart to allow the tubes to be descaled or replaced.
